Ramses is one of the most powerful and influential pharaohs in Egyptian history. He lived to the age of around 90 and ruled for 66 years, from 1279 to 1213 BCE. Known as "Ramses the Great," he was a charismatic leader famous for his confidence and authority, elevating Egypt to new heights with both military and political genius.
One of his key military achievements was the Battle of Kadesh against the Hittites. After the battle, he signed one of the world's earliest known peace treaties between the two empires. Ramses II was also a great builder, commissioning monumental structures like the Abu Simbel Temple to immortalize his power. He expanded the Karnak and Luxor Temples and erected many statues and monuments in his name.
Ramses was not just a warrior but also a divine figure who presented himself as a godlike ruler to his people and the deities. His long life, strong rule, and magnificent legacy have immortalized him as a symbol of Egypt's golden age.
