In my watch and play along series ,I have strived to see that students can learn as well as play the lessons along with me in order to improve Gamaka and tala skills. At the beginning stages especially, it is important to strengthen ones talam hence I show a metronome playing alongside.

Geethams play a very important role in setting finger dynamics for the students. Lyrics come into the picture, for which techniques will have to be applied on the veena. I am introducing very few basic techniques that are required at this stage of learning.

The first Geetham Shree Gananadha is in the raga Malahari which is a Audava Audava ragam ,janyam of 15th Melakartha raga Mayamalavagowlai.With a Suddha Rishabam and suddha Dhaivatham, both strong notes, Malahari as a ragam is well suited for devotional songs. The talam is Roopaka talam.
