New York Afrobeat fans and Africa music lovers received a musical-political -philosophical dosage from Femi Anikulapo-Kuti and the Positive Force band on January 26th.
The band jammed out in front of a packed crowd at New York City's Webster Hall night club.
SaharaTV/SaharaReporters spent the entire evening with the band, captured backstage minglings and had an exclusive interview with Femi.
Throughout the show Femi impressively switched between several instrumental families - saxophone, clarinet, trumpet and the keyboard - while directing his band and jerking his body passionately.
This US tour promoted Femi's most recent Album, "Africa For Africa", and many of his most celebrated songs with the band performing hits like Dem Bobo", "Beng Beng Beng", and "You Better Ask Yourself".
While Afrobeat will always remind us of Fela Kuti, Femi, Fela's eldest son has managed to carve out his on superstar identity within the genre, continuing a legacy that offers the modern world with a none nonsense message.
