Pope Francis goes against the Word Of God again.
The view of human nature in the Bible is not a good one. Even though some passages emphasize the inherent goodness of humanity, most acknowledge the presence of sin and the inclination toward wrongdoing.
One example is Genesis 1:31 which describes God's creation as "very good," implying the inherent goodness of what He created, including humanity,. However it is important to note that this was before sin.
After sin entered the world it went downhill from there. By the time Noah came into the scene, people had reached a point of no return.
"The Lord saw how great the wickedness of the human race had become on the earth, and that every inclination of the thoughts of the human heart was only evil all the time". Genesis 6:5, and God brought judgement upon the people of that time.
The Bible also acknowledges the reality of human sinfulness.
"For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God," emphasizing the universal nature of human sin. Romans 3:23
There is no one righteous, not even one; there is no one who understands; there is no one who seeks God. All have turned away, they have together become worthless; there is no one who does good, not even one.
Romans 3:10-12
But we are all like an unclean thing, And all our righteousnesses are like filthy rags; We all fade as a leaf, And our iniquities, like the wind, Have taken us away.
Isaiah 64:6
The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it?” Jeremiah 17:9
These passages show the tendency of people to act in ways that are contrary to God's will. That is why the Psalmist gives us an advice saying, "Turn from evil and do good; seek peace and pursue it." Psalm 34:14.
The Bible presents a view of human nature which acknowledges the reality of sinfulness and the potential for goodness but only in Christ Jesus (We are God’s workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them. Ephesians 2:10).
