Sat on a hill above the Tbilisi suburbs is the Chronicle of Georgia. It is a monument to the history of the the country and features 16 35 metre tall columns.
There are many carvings on the columns. Around the top you can see scenes from Georgian history; featuring the country’s kings and queens. The lower part is a little more religious and depicts the life of Jesus.
Construction of the Chronicles of Georgia began in 1985 but it was never fully completed. Maybe it was due to the collapse of the Soviet Union or maybe the money was just redirected towards other projects.
The views from the top are amazing, you can see the Tbilisi suburbs and the mountains in the background. After visiting the Chronicles, you can also walk down to the Tbilisi sea.
It's an artificial lake that serves as a reservoir. It’s about 5 miles long and 1 mile wide. It’s also pretty deep at an average of 20m. In the summer, this place is very popular. You can hire a kayak or just sunbathe and swim.
