British soldiers have been welcomed to Germany's Schnoeggersburg, a two-and-a-half square mile urban training site with more than 550 different buildings – and even its own airport.
Troops from X Company of First Battalion the Royal Regiment of Fusiliers have been embedded with Germany's 91st Infantry Battalion with both nations' armies aiming to work together under the same NATO division.
Schnoeggersburg in Altmark, eastern Germany, is dynamic and offers a chance for refreshed training, with helicopter-friendly roofs, collapsible bridges, 10-mile road networks and an underground sewage route, all to play for in mock battles.
