This is a rare 45 from 1978, produced by RIchard Carpenter of The Carpenters, and associate produced by his sister, Karen Carpenter.

It's a great song, and sounds almost exactly like a Carpenters song with a good male singer replacing Karen. You can easily imagine Karen singing this with the same arrangement. In fact, this is a lot stronger than a lot of stuff the Carpenters released for themselves at the time.

According to their fan club newsletters of the time, The Carpenters were supposed to follow up this single up by producing a full album for Mitchell. But it appears those plans got cancelled. Why is not clear. Perhaps because the single stiffed?

This single has never been reissued. I have included only a truncated version of the song to respect copyrights.

The b-side is a cover of the oldie "Venus".

This single was issued both as a promo, with "Where I Want to Be" on both sides, and as a commercial single, with Venus on the back. The promo is scarce, and the commercial single is rare.
