The War Dogs of #WW1. During World War I the Belgians entered the war with special dog teams that pulled war material. The dog was a special breed, the Belgian Mastiff, that was developed by the Belgian military. The Washington Herald on Aug 3, 1919, reported 10,000 war dogs were discharged by the Belgian military. The military abandoned the War Dog program and the breed is thought to be extinct or near extinct.
