In this video, we explore topical anti androgens for treating male pattern hairloss. I believe that this class of medication has a lot of potential as anti androgens do address what is believed to be the root cause of MPH by antagonizing the androgen receptor. However, due to a lack of clinical data, I would not recommend the use of topical anti androgens at the moment. I know that prominent hairloss YouTubers, such as Kevin from Haircafe, and Derek from More Plates More Dates, have recommended topical anti androgens in the past. Unfortunately, based on my current understanding of the literature, I would disagree with these individuals on this topic. I believe that we are still 5 to 10 years away from a topical anti androgen with adequate efficacy and safety data that could be recommended for human use.
