I wanted to compare the various self tightening props, this is on my Phantom V1.1.1 but results should be same on other models of Phantom (1/2/FC40).
Three props compared are:
DJI original Phantom 1 8045 props
DJI Phantom 2 9443 flatter props
Clone 9443 Carbon Fibre props
I've noticed the P2 props make the phantom more twitchy/less stable especially in windy conditions, which isn't ideal for filming (see quarry video unstabilised), so wanted to compare back to back with the original props, it was a reasonable breeze today I'd guess about 10mph and gusty, so a good test.
The Original 8045 props definitely fly smoothest and quietest, the Phantom 2 9443 props are slightly noisier and less smooth/more jumpy, the Carbon Fibre clone (non-DJI) 9443 props were noticably louder and even more jumpy/less stable.
I've edited the video to try to show this, it was a lot more obvious when I made these flights than it comes across on the video, but you can still see a definite difference between the 3 props.
All props were balanced before flights, the plastic props sanded to balance, carbons added tape, P2 props needed most balancing, but all needed a bit as I'd expect. I didn't adjust gains between flights, so arguably that could be used to tune out the jumpiness, however I've read that people are increasing gains with the P2 props, so this might make it worse, my gains are slightly higher than defaults as I found that worked best with weight of camera etc onboard.
I've done comparisons before with P1 8045 vs P2 9443 props and found the P2 props are definitely more efficient so you get longer flights, but having compared them back to back the cost is that the phantom is thrown about more by wind, I suspect I will use the original props more for filming, especially in windy conditions.
EFFICIENCY - I compared flight efficiency a while back, after another video [ Ссылка ] I took two identical 2200mah 40C packs, topped them off on charger (Cellpro 10S), then flew 5 mins exactly hovering 8ft up with both original and Phantom 2 props. This is on Phantom v1.1.1 with ebay gimbal, gopro3 and video transmitter so its plenty heavy, AUW is 1240g.
Original 8045 props 5 mins 1454mah, this works out to a predicted 6.05mins 80% flight time.
Phantom 2 9443 props 5 mins 1217mah, this works out to a predicted 7.23mins 80% flight time.
Based on this single back to back test the original props took 20% more power for the exact same flight.
I've read on a forum someone comparing the plastic Phamtom 2 props to carbon found the carbon were even more efficient (presumably being more rigid they don't flutter so much), but I haven't confirmed this.
Hope this is useful info.
