:: The Space ::
The historic Diamond Bar Ranch (D-BAR) rose to prominence under the inspired efforts of the locally famous (sometimes infamous) J.C. Nichols (aka. "Kid Nichols"), who had the vision to build many of the grand structures you'll see when you visit us. One of those structures is "Bunk 291", which has its heritage as a bunkhouse for cowboys, ranch hands, and chore boys.

To pique your curiosity, take some time and lose yourself in some incredible archival video on You Tube, which contains 1930s - 1950s video footage of Kid Nichols, his family, and ranch hands at the D-BAR and surrounding areas. Search You Tube for “Kid Nichols Films”.

Renovated to provide modern living comforts, today Bunk 291 focuses on its guests... sheltering them, sharing the D-BAR legacy, creating unforgettable memories, forging new friendships, and giving them a favorite place to return to in the years ahead.

Bunk 291 is bright, cheery, and open while at the same time providing complete privacy for your stay (as it is a standalone guest house). Inside, Bunk 291 features: 2 cozy bedrooms (1 king, 1 queen) outfitted with luxury Biscuit Bedding and restful memory foam mattresses, a full bathroom with double sinks, and a spacious living room curated for relaxation.

Staying true to its bunkhouse heritage, Bunk 291 does *not* have a kitchen (it was built for sleeping); however, we've set up some capabilities to help self-catering options work out. We've got a BBQ grill and a microwave for your use. The bigger-than-a-dorm-fridge mini-fridge can chill your snacks, beverages ,and perishables just fine. All the tableware you need is provided and all you have to do is place your dishes in a tub and set them outside the door: we'll wash 'em up and bring 'em back! Stock up on some coffee or tea pods at the grocery store in town and use the Keurig machine any time of day to put some extra pep in your step. And we're happy to provide you with food/beverage recommendations for the local eateries in town.

Overlooking the Absaroka mountains and the southern fork of the Shoshone River Valley, you are guaranteed the crème de la crème of views from Bunk 291's patio. Fair warning... the probability is high that you will scrap some of your road trip ambitions in favor of settling in to experience the joy of eating, drinking, socializing, napping, and soaking in unforgettable vacation moments at the D-BAR: itineraries be damned!

You can choose to be plugged in (WiFi, HBO/Showtime/Starz/Hulu/Netflix/Amazon, Streaming Music) or unplugged (just the sounds of birds, creeks, and ranching)... perhaps with some literature detailing the colorful history of the Ranch (written by Kid Nichols' sharp-tongued daughter, Lucille Nichols Patrick). Or, perhaps you want to get some exercise with some half-court basketball or try your hand at tennis under the grandeur of 70-foot pines! Runners and cyclists will be in awe with the options surrounding the D-BAR in the South Fork Valley!
