Jak się odmłodzić obserwując owady społeczne? Królowe dożywają 30 lat, bo są chronione i mają najlepszy pokarm. Jak jednak robotnice przedłużają swoje życie? Jak stara robotnica może się odmłodzić? Paweł Mazurkiewicz, biolog i badacz zachowań mrówek, wysnuwa fascynujące podobieństwa między zachowaniem mrówek a ludzi, które każą nam ponownie zastanowić się nad procesem starzenia. Paweł Mazurkiewicz is a PhD student at the College of Inter-Faculty Individual Studies in Mathematics and Natural Sciences, University of Warsaw. He researches mainly for the Laboratory of Ethology in the Nencki Institute of Experimental Biology (Polish Academy of Sciences) and for the Department of Animal Physiology (the Faculty of Biology, University of Warsaw). He obtained the Master degree both in psychology and biology and for quite some time has been busy with studying behaviour of eusocial insects, especially ants. In his effort to popularize their fascinating world he has won a prize in the competition „Engage”, organized by the Foundation for Polish Science, and as a part of his winning project he organized the I Myrmecological Workshop in 2015; he was also the main author of a popular science book „An Ant a Day” („Mrówka na każdy dzień”), published in the form of a calendar. He won the II prize in the Famelab 2016 contest. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at [ Ссылка ]
