Video produced by JANM's 2013 Getty Multicultural Undergraduate Interns, and the Watase Media Arts Center, to promote the Smithsonian's traveling exhibition, "I Want The Wide American Earth: An Asian Pacific American Story," currently on display at the Japanese American National Museum.
Created by the Smithsonian Asian Pacific American Center, "I Want the Wide American Earth" explores the deep-rooted history of Asian Pacific Americans in the United States, spanning from the first immigrants in the 1800s to the multi-ethnic communities found today. Through the display of thirty banners of poignant text, photographs and art, this exhibition takes a sweeping look at how Asian Pacific Americans have shaped and been shaped by the course of our nation's history.
This video includes footage from the exhibition banners and artifacts, original shots filmed by the interns, and borrowed footage from Wong Fu Productions. This clip expands on the topic of Asian Pacific American history, and current events by incorporating interviews from University Professors, Youtube stars, comedians, actresses, and more!
