Speakeasy Limited is an O gauge hi-rail train layout set in Chicago during the roaring twenties. Featuring a Capone gang bootlegging and lose dames theme; it has a surreal flavor that is as rousing to watch as operate.
Speakeasy Limited is dedicated to sharing and promoting the toy train hobby and has hosted events such as the Boy Scouts of America, Railroading merit badge class. Moreover, the Speakeasy Limited will be doing a limited series of product reviews along with progress reports of the layout itself.
This episode features a review of Golden Gate Depot's 1948 Pennsylvania Broadway Limited passenger sets A & B. What was thought to be an easy "give them an A+ review" turned ugly when three of the eight cars arrived with empty interiors and two other cars were nearly empty. This was especially disappointing after being advertised as "the most highly detailed aluminum cars ever produced". Scott Mann responding directly to my concerns has offered to provide seating for the empty sleeper cars in September of 2011, but not to install those seats or to configure them per the specifications of the prototype. It is important to note though, that Mr. Mann was very responsive, answered email within a matter of hours, and appears to be very hands-on with his business. It is a very good company, they just messed this train up, in my humble opinion.
Speakeasy Limited is privately owned and operated; it is five years old as of the shooting of this video and has a planned completion date of September, 2016.
