"The Candlemaker" is an excellent example of godly children's programming! This story teaches the importance of Christian stewardship, and many of the background themes are godly and biblical as well. Worshiping God is central to the life of this family. They attend church regularly. Even more importantly, they consistently worship God throughout the rest of the week, too. The parents teach their son the family business at home, instead of shipping him off to be educated by the government. Within the father's candle-making business, he teaches his son the importance of giving God the best of your time and effort. At church, there is no age segregation between children and parents. Instead, families sit together and worship God together. The worship includes the reverent and joyful singing of hymns, as well as the public reading of Scripture. At home, the parents work in unity to provide their son with godly discipline, and they smile at each other when their son leaves the room, happy to realize that their son has just learned an important lesson about godly Christian stewardship. He does learn his lesson, and this story has an encouraging, uplifting, happy ending.
