CAPTION: Dozens of homes are threatened in St. Charles County, Missouri, near St. Louis after water overtopped a levee. But towns up and down the Mississippi River are confident the worst is over as forecasters scaled back their projected river crests. (June 20)

UP RIVER IN WINFIELD, MISSOURI, PEOPLE ARE STILL DESPERATELY SANDBAGGING TO TRY AND HIGHTEN LEVEES ALONG THE MISSISSIPPI RIVER.

THEY LIVE ALMOST THREE HOURS AWAY.

WATER SPILLED OER THE TOP OF SEVERAL LEVEES IN LINCOLN COUNTY, MISSOURI ON THURSDAY.
NOW IT HAS CREEPED INTO THE SMALL TOWN OF FOLEY.
HOUSES ARE INCHES AWAY FROM MUDDY WATER.
