Hello. In this video we look at these small aerodynamic surfaces that are installed on the wings and on the fuselage of some aircraft. These surfaces are called as Strakes and are used to improve the flow across the wing or the tail section of the aircraft. This may be to improve the lift across the wing or to improve the stability at the tail section. We look different types of strakes such as nacelle strakes, nose strakes, wing strakes and rear strakes that are also called as ventral fins.
