Peace Arch Park is a unique park that straddles the 49th parallel between Canada and the United States. It is managed in partnership with Washington State Parks and is the first structure of its kind in the world. The park features formal lawns, gardens, and the iconic Peace Arch, which was dedicated in 1921 to commemorate lasting peace between the two countries. The Peace Arch itself has engravings that read "Children of a Common Mother" on the Washington side and "Brethren Dwelling Together in Unity" on the British Columbia side. The park offers opportunities for walking, indoor, and outdoor picnicking, and also has a lily pond and a flower garden in the shape of the Canadian flag.
