We replaced some rusty 5/16" split shaft button head bolts on “Only the young die brave" an 11c arete at Sugarloaf near Tahoe. The new bolts are stainless steel Dewalt Power-Studs.
I have removed close to a hundred split shaft bolts, both 5/16” and 1/4". The quarter inch ones are always quite easy to remove, rarely taking more than a minute, sometimes failing with a lite tap. The 5/16" version can be harder to extract, up to an hr of hammering, sweating and cursing. But some have popped out scarily low, they would have pulled out under body weight.
This is the first video I have ever produced start to finish, be kind.
