On Saturday, February 5, 2022, the City of Cape Canaveral held one of its largest planting events ever, managing to plant 19,000 sea oats across nearly two miles of beach with the help of dozens of dedicated volunteers. Years of education and excellent results have reinforced the success of this program. A big THANK YOU again to everyone who came and helped! Since 2005, volunteers and City staff have planted over 160,000 sea oats beachside. As part of the City’s sustainability program - now called the Cape Canaveral 2063 Program - the City intends to plant over 220,000 total sea oats by 2035. With your help, we’re well on our way to meeting this goal!
