Sumburgh Roost is an area of sea off the south of Shetland where two tidal streams meet with dramatic results. The tidal stream at Sumburgh Roost can be seen from the Sumburgh lighthouse as a a thin silver band of small breaking waves. We sailed the roost with our rib. With good conditions it is a rough ride, it is not a place where you want to be in a storm..
