The Ford Wildlife Foundation recently sponsored the Endangered Wildlife Trust-lead Cheetah Metapopulation Project, with the addition of a Ford Ranger to their fleet. The project aims to combat in-breeding amongst our local cheetah population with their rather unique and innovative solutions.

I joined a select group of media at Mongena Lodge, in the heart of the Dinokeng Reserve, as we got to interact with Vincent van der Merwe, leader of the Cheetah Metapopulation Project. Phenomenal work is being done by our local conservation boys and girls, even beyond the borders of South Africa.

A mid-morning game drive, which saw our tracker Goodman find three of the big five, added to the excitement of the day. Lunch was served back at Mongena, allowing me some time to touch base with Vincent as well as Alisea Chetty, from the Ford Wildlife Foundation.
