The seasonal sacrifices of God picture the salvation order of events on God's calendar. While these sacrifices were done by the Priests on behalf of the nation as a whole and the individuals did not have to offer them individually, they still all had to observe them prayerfully when the priest offered them. These particular sacrifices were meant to open communion with God to hear and be pleased with the prayers of the people. In this sermon we cover what each sacrifice was meant to convey to God on behalf of the people.
In theses seasonal sacrifices we had two daily offerings at evening and morning, which represented the daily prayers of the people, weekly sabbath offerings, a monthly "New Moon" offering representing God's blessing and presents in business meetings of the people as they conducted the business of the nation on God's behalf, and then there were two bi-yearly sets of sacrifices, one set in the first month and then the second set in the seventh month. The first set dealt with the Passover week and then Pentecost (First Fruits) fifty days later. The second set represented the Harvest reaping, starting with the blowing of trumpets, then the day of atonement, then ending with the days of tabernacling with God.
The daily, weekly and monthly offerings had to do with the present life of the Nation's people showed that God was ever present. The Bi-yearly offerings while associated with the farming season, were prefaced with Passover and Tabernacle with God, showing that it was God who freed them and provided the harvest for them.
These Bi-yearly times also had a greater significance to them than just the yearly presents and provision of God in each year but also represented something more that the nation looked forward to in the promises that God would give to them a redeemer who would free them from the bondage of sin. The Passover representing physical freedom from bondage was Spiritually fulfilled in the Easter sacrifice and the resurrection of Christ "seeding" the Holy Ghost to the earth and the day of Trumpets fulfilled when Christ returns to harvest the earth and atone His people in order for them to be with him.
