Russia is withdrawing Soviet-era T-54 and T-55 tanks from storage, which were produced in the late 1950s. The Conflict Intelligence Team of researchers notes that this is being observed for the first time. The tanks were spotted on trains in the city of Arsenyev in the Primorsky Krai region, where the Central Reserve and Storage Base for tanks is located. Since last summer, T-62 tanks have been sent from this base to the front lines.
Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty showed satellite images of this reserve base taken on July 12th, August 19th, and October 2nd of last year. The images show the base being emptied out, and in the fall, there were hardly any tanks left on its open grounds.
