To encourage peonies in the closed bud stage to open quickly there are a couple things I do:

🌸 give the buds a good smack on the table to loosen up the bud
🌸 remove the leaves; we want the plant energy to go towards opening up the peony flowers, not providing hydration to leaves
🌸 slosh the peony bud in a warm bucket of water
🌸 cut the ends of the stems with pruners to encourage water uptake
🌸 place the peony in a vase full of warm water (warm water accelerates flower opening)

With these easy tips you’ll make your peonies open up much faster so you can enjoy them on your special day!
