Chicago is the next stop for Oasis on their troubled tour of North America, and they play the Metro. It seems the name gets confused for a different one, but it had only changed it’s name from the more elongated Cabaret Metro in the last few years. Quite a few acts who visited the venue in the 1990’s had got their sets filmed professionally, including Radiohead (twice!), The Verve and Hole. Oasis got this exact same treatment too fortunately, and as such it’s become one of their most well known gigs of the year. The performance is very similar to Minneapolis the day before so you can expect another fiery early performance. Liam sounds about the same, and uses his power to great effect in both Fade Away and Married With Children. He accidentally mixes up Bring It On Down and Up In The Sky’s set placements, which he turns into amusing banter. The band are also still very tight here, and the soundboard really helps hear the magic of Mark Coyle’s brilliant and iconic sound for the band on stage in full, and songs like Columbia and Slide Away sound magnificent for it. While it’s certainly a strong show, it isn’t much different compared to other shows in this month, and I’d personally listen to Minneapolis as Liam sounds more clean there. But this is still an easy listen due to the high quality sound source and short runtime of these North American gigs.
