The town of Tavistock, England in Devon is a picturesque market town. Benedictine monks built a monastery here in 961. The town was given a Royal Market Charter in 1105. The market is still in operation today. Tavistock has a number of fairs and festivals during the year. The largest is the Goose Fair in October. The town is only twelve miles north of Plymouth and is a popular gateway to the Dartmoor National Park.
