1-Plaza major
Our starting point is Plaza Mayor,
Plaza Major is located in the downtown area, near the Church of Santa Eulalia and the town hall.
The area and neighborhood houses occupied by the Plaza Mayor is the former convent of San Felipe Neri. Until 1820 the square was the site of the spanish Inquisition and is steeped in history.
Plaza major is a rectangular square in the predominant style of main land Spain of the second half of the nineteenth century.
Here, an historical plaque indicates the dwelling place of Ramon Llull" which he occupied during the Middle Ages .and is of exceptional historical value.
Ramon LLul was a great instigator of the catalán language and theologian of the Christian movement of the time.
You will now see a monument dedicated to Gabriel Fuster Mayans who was famous for the popular gatherings of the old local farmers who gathered in Plaza Mayor to haggel and barter over the prices of the produce grown localy in the fields of Mallorca.
