The lead singer of the popular Ukrainian band Okean Elzy staged a solo performance for workers at the Chernobyl nuclear power station, May 13, 2022.
Sviatoslav Vakarchuk sang and played guitar as he sat in protective white clothes in front of a huge bank of controls inside the notorious facility.
In April 1986 the plant's fourth reactor exploded during a botched safety test, sending clouds of radiation billowing across much of Europe.
The plant, which is still radioactive, lies about 100 kilometers from Kyiv. In February this year invading Russian forces captured it, but it was later retaken by Ukraine.
