This video, shot in the winter of 1984 in Norway, is about Mountain and Arctic Warfare Training with the British Contingent to the AMF(L) - Allied Command Mobile Force Land. It features the 1st Battalion of the Parachute Regiment at that time commanded by Lt. Col. Mike Jackson who later became General Sir Michael David Jackson GCB, CBE, DSO, DL Chief of the General Staff (CGS), the professional head of the British Army. At that time Mountain and Arctic Warfare Training for the AMF(L) was run by Major (later Brigadier) Rod Macdonald MBE as the G3 AMF(L) who demonstration skis in this film. Prior to this he commanded 59 Independent Commando Squadron Royal Engineers part of mountain and arctic warfare trained 3 Commando Brigade Royal Marines from 1980 to 1983, which included the Falklands War. The film is taken from a three part series made by a local South of England Television station.
