While getting ready for the gym this morning, I got really into the music I was listening to (Vicetone's new remix of Bonnie McKee's "I Want it All," in case you're wondering...) and turned to one of the houseguests staying at my apt this weekend to say, "I think my workout is about to turn into a dance video." We laughed, and my pre-workout drink started to kick in as I walked over to the gym.
The workout started pretty normal... Actually, really great tbh... When suddenly a song came on my recently-created 'Inspiration' playlist and I couldn't contain my need to dance. I went down to the empty yoga room, restarted the song, hit record and, for the first time ever on camera, I feel like I really lost myself in the music - something I've always struggled to do when I know there are "eyes" on me.
I've had all the feels this week, but music/dancing is one of the few things that really gets me out of my head and takes me somewhere else. Despite a history of stage fright and a number of moments of irrational(?) fear over the last few days, this is the first time in a week that I really just let go and felt free.
Here's my my freestyle to "Rock Wit Me" by Trevor Jackson (ft. IAMSU!). Whether it makes you laugh or smile or anything else, I hope have as much fun watching the clip as I had making it!
