Eid ul-Adha, also known as the Festival of Sacrifice, holds a profound story deeply rooted in the faith and obedience of the prophet Ibrahim (Abraham) to Allah (God). This significant occasion allows Muslims around the world to reflect on the values of faith, sacrifice, and unity.
According to Islamic tradition, Ibrahim received a divine command from Allah in a dream, instructing him to sacrifice his beloved son, Ismail (Ishmael). Considering this as a test of his unwavering faith, Ibrahim informed Ismail about Allah's command, and Ismail willingly accepted the will of Allah. Together, they embarked on a journey to fulfill the divine command.
However, on their way, the devil tried to dissuade Ibrahim from his task, appearing and whispering doubts. Undeterred, Ibrahim firmly rejected these temptations and continued towards the sacred duty assigned to him.
As Ibrahim prepared to sacrifice his son on Mount Arafat, a remarkable event occurred. Impressed by Ibrahim's unwavering devotion, Allah intervened and replaced Ismail with a ram at the very moment Ibrahim was about to carry out the sacrifice. The ram was sacrificed instead, symbolizing the ultimate act of submission and obedience to Allah's command.
