Today we’re going to talk about water pipes, aka bongs.
It’s gentler on the throat than smoking a joint or a regular pipe.
The basis concept is that the smoke passes through the water, which cools it off before entering the lungs as well as filters out carcinogens
There are 5 main parts to a bong:
The mouthpiece- the section you fit over your mouth
The bowl- where you pack your cannabis.
The stem- which is the tube that connects the bowl to the chamber
The chamber- the large space inside the bong
And the carb. The carb helps clear any remaining smoke out of the chamber. In some bongs the small hole in the chamber is the carb. In others, you have to lift up the bowl.
So! How to do a bong hit-
Put 1-2 inches of water in the bong
Exhale completely and put the mouthpiece over your mouth. Make sure one finger is covering the carb (if you have one). Light the cannabis and inhale.
When you’ve feel like you’ve gotten a good lungful, cover the top of the bong with your hand to keep the leftover smoke in the chamber from escaping.
You can either pass the bong off to someone else, or you can clear the chamber yourself.
It’s the same set up as before- exhale completely, then put the mouthpiece up to your face, only this time you’re going leave the carb uncovered. If there’s no carb then you can just lift up the bowl.
As always, I recommend you wait 15 minutes between bong hits. They can take a little time to kick in.
Cleaning a bong is easy- just soak it in rubbing alcohol for 20-30 minutes and it’ll look good as new!
So go slowly, stay safe, and HAVE FUN!
