Enrico Caruso (1873-1921) sings "Je crois entendre encore" from Bizet's THE PEARL FISHERS. Recorded acoustically on December 7, 1916 in NYC. In 1932 RCA Victor mixed the 1916 recording with a new electrically recorded orchestral accompaniment made on December 3, 1932 in Camden, NJ.
Digitally transferred directly from original 12-inch 78 rpm discs. The 1916 disc had some distortion at the beginning. Audio restoration software was applied to both versions without added reverb or artificial ambiance.
