Explosives, military uniforms and Russian products with self-styled ‘Novorossiya symbols – discoveries made during raids in Ukraine’s eastern city of Avdiivka. Over 105 people were arrested. That’s according to Ukraine’s Security Service. The detained are believed to have connections with militant groups in Donetsk and Luhansk regions. The SBU released this video of the operation. It shows door-to-door searches of properties and a number of discoveries. Officials say terrorist attacks had been planned by illegal armed groups under the guise of the Ukrainian army. Avdiivka is a government-held industrial hub, just some 6km north of Donetsk. Members of the National Guard, military and law enforcement participated in the raids.
It’s not the first time security forces held special operation in the country's east. Earlier this month, the same operation was held in the village of Krasnohorivka where 85 people were detained. Warnings about the dangers of Russian or militant subversive groups have repeatedly been made by Ukrainian Security Service officials. The purpose of such attacks is to sow fear, disunity and destabilize the political and security situation in the country.
