Tourists on a cable car ride in the north Indian state of Himachal Pradesh were trapped for hours on June 20, 2022, before they were rescued using harnesses and ropes to lower them to the ground. Similar accidents involving cable cars have occurred in India, including a recent one in April 2022 that led to the deaths of three tourists.
