Having already covered nearly 17,000 miles to this point on my round the world bicycle journey and in my 28th country of New Zealand, I actually passed this hill earlier and didn't realise it was here as I was drenched from having already cycled 15 miles in the rain and being frozen by the descent into Dunedin. When I was drying off in a camping store in the town centre some guy saw me and my bike and told me the worlds steepest street was actually here, I seen it before on youtube and never realised it was here! I was about to dismiss going back 2 miles up the road and having a try! But when I thought about it for a few moments I thought how on earth can I be doing a world ride and not at least try and cycle up the worlds steepest street. Keeping with the world bike ride theme I went back 2 miles even though my legs were somewhat tired having cycled 230 miles from the previous 2 days coming from Christchurch...and experienced my real life Rocky moment!
