I discovered a 9' giant hogweed growing along
Cazenovia creek in West Seneca last week. I contacted the DEC, and they verified through pictures that the ID was correct. I asked if they wanted me to remove the seeds, and they said yes as long as the flowers were gone. They were. I was told to carefully clip the seeds off and bag them. Once they are bagged, double bag them and let them sit in the sun for a week or so, to ensure they are dead, and then throw the bags in the garbage. I was going to burn them, but was advised not to. Unfortunately, my camera was on high speed, so it is a very fast, unnarrated video.
