This latest winter storm hit Houston (and Texas) pretty hard. Power was out across the state and now most cities are under a boil water notice. I live in Houston and thought it'd be worth sharing my experience. I spent the first ten years of my life in the northeast, but I've NEVER experienced anything like this! While I was initially excited to see snow in Houston, you get to watch the decline in my excitement as time went on. 😂

Alex (my husband) and I are so fortunate to have gotten power back after 36 hours. Some people have had to wait even longer - and some people STILL don't have power. There are a lot of people who don't have running water in their homes or can't afford to buy bottled water. I've left some organizations down below in case you want to support the Houston community (and a huge thank you to those who are able to help)! 💜

This organization helps connect first responders and vetted civilian rescue teams with people in the community who need help during a disaster. They've been distributing food, water, generators, and heaters to people without power or water

HOC is raising funds to purchase groceries and supplies to provide meals and essentials to Houston's houseless communities.

The Houston Food Bank is providing food to children, families, and seniors in need.
