Germany's anti-immigration party, the Alternative for Germany (AfD), is celebrating what it calls a 'historic success' as projections indicate a major victory in the eastern state of Thuringia. According to a projection from public broadcaster ARD, the AfD is poised to secure nearly a third of the vote, leading the conservative CDU by nine points and surpassing Germany's three governing parties. Remember, this result marks the first time the far-right party has won a state election since World War Two.
