What are anchor institutions, and how can they in transforming neighborhoods? In this talk, Dr. Taino Palermo discusses previous efforts and positive results in upstate New York as a case study for what can be done in Rhode Island, and in other Cities and States around the country. Dr. Taino Palermo has worked as an education and nonprofit leader for over a decade focusing on community and economic development, urban education and neighborhood revitalization. He has a history, personally and professionally, of advocating for underrepresented communities and urban youth. Dr. Palermo is currently the Program Director for both the Community Development and Healthy Communities degree programs at Roger Williams University in Providence, Rhode Island.
