The Comptons raise money by hosting weddings in the orangery and attracting visitors but some of the rooms are in need of repair

They say they have put millions of pounds into the hall, but they have still had to sell of key pieces at auction



Parts of the home are incredibly grand and ornate, kept up with the traditions and decorations of its history


The former home of real-life Lord Grantham, Newby Hall is a Grade 1 listed 18th century stately home, designed by Wren, with 25 acres of formal gardens and 250 acres of parkland



Richard and Lucinda live in a separate apartment within the stately home, and have a fairly ordinary life

Richard Compton inherited the property from his father and has lived there since 1999



Sir Richard FitzHerbert, at Tissington Hall, Peak District National Park, which he inherited when he was 24 and has found money to be tight



Although the Lillingstones live in grand surroundings, they drive modest cars, not having the spare cash to splash on fancy new models



The couple host weddings at the house and are building some luxury additions to keep it afloat
