The Aveyron department experienced a particularly violent stormy episode with hail on the evening of July 11, 2024.
This meteorological event gave rise to 217 interventions by firefighters. The Bassin de Decazeville sector was particularly affected, as was the sector between Saint-Laurent d'Olt and Campagnac, in the east of the department.
In its provisional report, the Aveyron prefecture communicates this Friday July 12 that "no injuries have been reported at this stage".
The damage is mainly material: buildings, roofs and numerous vehicles.
State services specify that these bad weather gave rise to 217 interventions by firefighters. Two hundred are still underway this Friday morning, on which 80 firefighters are engaged.
8,000 customers were without electricity at 10 p.m.
Across Occitanie, several departments were swept away by hailstorms. In the Hautes-Pyrénées, residents saw hailstones as big as golf balls falling from the sky.
