This beginner's tutorial will show you how to add (or join) new yarn when working single crochet (U.S. terms). We'll look at how to add yarn from a new skein when you're mid-row, and also when you're at the start of a new row.
Skills required: Chain, single crochet, weave in ends, confident in tension of yarn

I suggest using a "bulky" (5) or "super bulky" (6) weight yarn to practice. Start by using the hook size that your skein of yarn recommends. If you're having trouble with your tension, try a different hook that allows you to achieve gauge, as described by the yarn label.
