What they found is that the farther away from the equator the megalodon lived, the larger it grew. The prehistoric shark got bigger the colder the water was. Scientists figured this out by studying fossilized teeth from various latitudes. Each tooth is about the size of a human hand, and serrated like a kitchen knife. What scientists discovered is that the higher the latitude, the bigger the teeth.
