These typing tools evolved over several decades, beginning in 1970 when I first began typing others according to many diverse typology systems, including the Enneagram. Over time I became proficient in all of them. Once I discovered the Enneagram, I found that it was the typology that linked all of the typologies together.

I will introduce key archetypes of the Enneagram types that were missing resulting in some types not fully recognizing themselves in the description of their Enneagram type and share how some of the original Enneagram teachings were lost in the early disseminations of the Enneagram.
In addition, I will cover some of the teachings that were based on inaccurate disseminations of the Enneagram. This is why it is crucial to know the 'origins' of the Enneagram.

Oscar Ichazo is the creator of the 'Enneagram of Personality,' and Claudio Naranjo is the creator of the Enneagram 'Subtypes.'

Without this information, you may miss the opportunity of getting to the deeper, more meaningful aspects of each Enneagram type's emotional needs, fears, and concerns.

I'll introduce some of the tips on typing that will help you type with improved accuracy and help you discover why you may have been mistyped:

• Do you know how you use the defense strategies of each Enneagram Type in your Tritype®
• And how these three types merge to create a new type unto itself?
• Do you know the way you use your head type, heart type, and gut type?

Why did they mistype? Because most people type themselves based on their behaviors and what they do, rather than their motivations... and why they do what they do. Trying to determine your Enneagram type and Tritype® based on your behaviors rather than your motivations makes it hard to see yourself (and others) accurately.

The distinction between your motivations and your behaviors is key to understanding the Enneagram. This is because all other personality typologies are based on behaviors... Whereas the 'Enneagram of Personality' is the only typology based on your motivations and the 'defense strategies' that you use.

Understanding your Enneagram Type, Tritype®, and Instinctual Stacking can dramatically increase your ability to develop the critical self-awareness needed to accurately type yourself and others. In addition to more accurately typing, you can apply the wisdom of these insights to yourself and others, creating the opportunity for radical change and transformation.

This, in turn, will create a sense of internal harmony that will help you develop greater compassion for yourself and others, thus creating a deeper sense of harmony between you and your world.
