In a recent interview for Al Mayadeen, Scott Ritter, former US Marine Corps intelligence officer, addressed the awaited Hez-bol-lah response to the Israeli terrorist attacks on Lebanon, targeting pagers and walkie-talkies.
Ritter asserted, "Hezbollah has every legal authority to respond in a manner which would bring harm to Israel" but has strategically avoided escalation to prevent a wider war, as the broader goal is ending the "Israeli" war on Gaza not defeating "Israel".
He emphasized that the Islamic Resistance in Lebanon's primary objective is to support Hamas and keep global attention focused on the ongoing war on Gaza, rather than shifting it to a potential war with "Israel."
Ritter also noted that he interpreted Sayyed Hassan's recent speech as a signal that Hezbollah intends to prioritize maintaining pressure on "Israel" over immediate retaliatory strikes, reinforcing their commitment to pressuring the Israeli occupation and helping the Palestinian Resistance.
