In this video we make a small cabinet using the System 32 method. We created a parametric design in Fusion360, where we defined parameters to define the overall size of the cabinet.
Parametric design is a great method to use, as you can retrospectively change any dimensions, and the entire design will scale along with it.
We utilised classic cabinetry joins for this project. Half tongue and grooves for the majority of the joins to keep them visually clean when viewing from above.
We had to do some double sided machining to pocket out our half tongue joins. The accuracy of SmartBench made it easy for us to setup a secondary cut file after flipping the pieces. We used the already cut positions to lay our flipped parts in, and used the same X/Y origin as our reference.
We used a 1/8" downcut bit for our back panel grooves and shelf pin holes. We then switched over to a 1/4 compression bit to route the grooves and cut the profiles. We got perfectly clean top and bottom surfaces from the quality Carbitool compression bit.
