Clara Zetkin Biography - German Marxist Theorist, Activist, and Advocate for Women's Rights
Clara Zetkin, née Clara Eißner (July 5, 1857 - June 20, 1933), was a highly influential German politician, of communist ideology, as well as a fighter for women's rights. She was active in the Social Democratic Party of Germany until 1917, at which time she joined the Independent Social Democratic Party of Germany (USPD), specifically in its most left wing, the Spartacist League, which would later end up forming the Communist Party of Germany (KPD). . She was a member of the Reichstag for this party during the Weimar Republic from 1920 to 1933.
