RIVERSIDE, CALIFORNIA - On Thursday evening, November 17, 2022, Cal Fire / Riverside County Fire, the City of Riverside Fire Department, Riverside Police Department along with the California Highway Patrol and AMR responded to reports of a head-on crash in the unincorporated area of Riverside known as Woodcrest. The crash was reported around 6:09pm on Van Buren Blvd. at Sally Lane. The first arriving engine company reported two vehicles, an SUV and a full size pick-up truck, both with major front end damage with (6) patients. An MCI (Mass Casualty Incident) was declared. Firefighters use extrication tools to free the trapped occupants of the SUV. According to witnesses, the driver of the pick-up truck appeared drunk and was swerving all over the road prior to colliding with the SUV. All six patients, a family of five in the SUV and the suspected DUI driver in the truck, were transported via ground ambulances to area hospitals in unknown conditions. Van Buren Blvd. is closed from Mockingbird Canyon to Canyon View in both directions for an unknown duration of time while officers conduct their investigation.
